A man attempted to assassinate Vice President Cristina Fernandez Kirchner as she greeted the crowd outside her home. The attacker reportedly brought the gun close to Kirchner’s face and triggered it, but the gun did not fire. Following the incident, the attacker, a Brazilian citizen named Fernando Sabag Montiel, 35, was detained, an official said.
Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, former President of Argentina and current Vice President of Argentina, was accused of defrauding the state and being involved in a scheme to divert public funds during her terms as president between 2007 and 2015.
