In the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, an assassination attempt was made on former Prime Minister Imran Khan. On October 28, Khan and his supporters set out for the capital Islabamad, forming a convoy for the early elections. An unidentified assailant opened fire on the convoy near Wazirabad, Punjab province. Khan was injured in his leg during the attack and was taken off the bus and transported to the hospital in an armored vehicle. The attack injured six other people, including Imran Khan’s Pakistani Justice Movement (PTI) Party MP. The assailant was apprehended at the scene.
On the other hand, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that an urgent investigation be launched.
