A total of 17 people, including 10 guards and 7 prisoners, were killed, 15 were injured, and 25 prisoners escaped after gangs attacked the prison in the city of Ciudad Juarez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, a Mexican official said. Among the escaped prisoners is “El Neto”, the leader of the armed crime syndicate Los Mexicles, while the raid is thought to have been carried out to kidnap the leader of the crime syndicate.

Authorities announced that 5 armed people who participated in the raid were arrested, and 2 criminals were neutralized by the security forces in the chase after the raid.
