This decision follows similar moves by France, the UK, and Canada. Albanese emphasized that Australia received commitments from the Palestinian Authority on disarmament, elections, and recognition of Israel’s right to exist. He stated that a two-state solution remains the best hope for peace in the Middle East. This decision comes after discussions with international counterparts from the UK, France, New Zealand, and Japan.
