Former US President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning citizens from 12 countries—including Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, and Yemen—from entering the US, citing national security threats.
The order, effective June 9, also imposes strict visa screenings for citizens of 7 other countries, including Cuba and Venezuela. Existing visas remain valid.
Exceptions apply to dual nationals, certain Afghans, persecuted minorities, and athletes attending major events. The White House said the ban targets countries lacking proper security checks or failing to share threat information.
