Australia’s Winter Storm Brings Heaviest Snowfall in Decades

New South Wales has experienced its heaviest snowfall since the 1980s, with some Queensland areas seeing snow for the first time in 10 years. The State Emergency Service responded to over 1,450 snow-related incidents, including stranded vehicles and storm damage. Thousands of homes were left without power.

Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury highlighted the unusual extent of the snowfall, with northern New South Wales seeing snow depths of up to 40 centimeters. She attributed the extreme weather to climate change, noting its growing impact on Australia’s weather patterns.
