Azerbaijan is celebrating the Victory Day and the liberation of Shusha, which was attained in the 44-day lasting Second Karabakh War on November 8, 2020. A parade, accompanied by an Azerbaijani military band, was held at 3 areas in the capital Baku. Azerbaijan Higher Military Academy students also accompanied the parades by shouting slogans along the route. Despite the cold and rainy weather, citizens watched the parade with high interest.

The “Victory Day”, which was previously designated as November 10, was redesignated as November 8, the day Shusha was liberated from occupation, by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as it coincided with the death anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Monsoon Rains Kill 17 in Pakistan

Monsoon rains have claimed 17 lives in Pakistan, with flash floods hitting Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. In Swat, nine people drowned while trying to rescue children who fell into a river during a family picnic. Search operations are ongoing for four missing individuals. Eight more deaths were reported in Punjab due to roof collapses, lightning, and floods. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the tragedy.
