Belgian trade unions go on strike, public services halt

Belgian’s leading trade unions went on strike early in the morning due to high inflation and increasing consumer prices. The majority of employees in public institutions did not go to work. While hospitals in Belgium took steps to slow down work, with the exception of emergency services, none of the departments accepted patients with appointments. Significant disruptions in train and public transportation services are affecting throughout the country, particularly at airports.

Many employees affiliated with the unions that decided to strike continue to protest by erecting barricades in front of their workplaces.
