Numerous people, including about 50,000 employees, took to the streets in Belgium on the first day of a multi-day strike and demonstrations to protest the new government’s planned pension reforms and major tax policy changes.
Due to the strike, Brussels Airport reportedly canceled 430 flights and it was stated that public transport and postal services were likely to be affected as well.
According to the planned pension reform, people who retired before 35 years of service will face a 5% decrease in their payment for every year after 2040.
