Within the framework of a nuclear phase-out law, which was enacted against the energy crisis that arose recently, Belgium closed the Tiange 2 Nuclear Reactor. The reactor started operating on February 1, 1983 and produced at least three times more than the country’s electricity needs.

It was reported that the 100 personnel working at the reactor will not lose their jobs since some of them will work in the dismantling works that will begin after the reactor is completely shut down, and others will continue working in the Tiange 1 reactor, which was decided to be closed on October 1, 2025, and the Tiange 3 reactor, which will continue operating for 10 years.

Another nuclear reactor, Doel 3, was shut down in September last year.

Germany, France, and Jordan jointly delivered 24 tons of food and medical aid to Gaza, where a hunger crisis is worsening under Israel’s blockade. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the air aid would only meet a fraction of the needs and urged Israel to allow broader humanitarian access. French President Macron also stressed that aid must flow freely, stating, “This is not enough; Israel must ensure full access.”
