The Biden administration allocated $60 million from the federal budget to Maryland for debris removal following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. Governor Wes Moore announced the approval of the emergency budget and revealed plans to use the US Army Engineering Unit’s largest crane to remove the debris. The reconstruction of the bridge is estimated to cost at least $2 billion.
Four people are still missing, with two workers found dead in a submerged red pickup truck. Search efforts were suspended due to debris in the area, and it’s believed that the remaining missing individuals also lost their lives in the bridge collapse.
