A bomb attack was carried out on the police station in the town of Caloto, in southwest Colombia. A nearby church collapsed after the attack. Colombian Interior Minister Daniel Palacios stated that he condemned the attack on the police and said that terrorists aim to instill fear in the region with such attacks. “Let us make it clear to those responsible for this incident that Colombia did not bow down and that we will fight with all determination,” Palacios said. Colombian Defense Minister Diego Molana stated that the Regional Security Council convened after the attacks and said, “We will dedicate ourselves to the protection of the Colombian people. Operations against opponents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are intensifying. We will catch those responsible,” he said.
Authorities have not yet made a statement regarding the loss of life and injury.
