A three-day mourning period has been declared in the city of Batatais for nine firefighters who died in a cave in Altinopolis, Brazil, while training in the cave yesterday. The Sao Paulo fire department, along with 75 firefighters, conducted a search and rescue operation that included 20 vehicles, trained dogs, police, and medical teams. One of the firefighters who was trapped under the collapse was rescued alive. Sao Paulo Governor Joao Doria stated that the teams were attempting to save as many people as possible, and he expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the nine firefighters who died in the tragic incident.
