A group of mountaineers was stuck after one of the climbers accidentally injured his foot while climbing the Picos de Europa mountain range, which is part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. Despite the severe snow and foggy weather, the Spanish Civil Guards conducted a successful helicopter rescue operation. The injured mountaineer was transferred to the hospital after being carried onto the helicopter that landed near the mountaineers.
Russia has returned the remains of 1,212 Ukrainian soldiers under a war casualty exchange agreement. Ukraine’s Prisoner of War Coordination Center said efforts are underway to identify the bodies. The International Committee of the Red Cross assisted in the process.
