A 60-meter-long bridge on the Pan-American Highway in northern Peru collapsed into the river below, along with a double-decker bus carrying more than 50 passengers and a car, resulting in the deaths of the bus driver and a passenger and the wounding of 41 more.
The cause of the collapse of the bridge, which was built on the highway in the 1960s, is currently unknown.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, 3,138 people died in traffic accidents in Peru in 2023.
