The passenger bus carrying 40 people from Meru to Mombasa in Kenya was passing over the Nithi River bridge when it fell from a height of about 40 meters into the river bed, killing 24 people. The bodies of the passengers were scattered in the river following the accident. The injured were transported to hospitals in Chogoria and Chuka.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling at a high speed when it collided with the bridge’s guardrails due to a brake failure.
