At least 51 people were killed when a bus carrying 75 passengers veered off the Puente Belice highway bridge and crashed into a stream in Guatemala City. Rescue teams and ambulances rushed to the scene, but many victims were found dead.
President Bernardo Arevalo expressed his condolences and declared a three-day national mourning. He also ordered the army and disaster relief agencies to assist with rescue efforts. The cause of the accident remains unknown.
