Forest fires in Los Angeles, California, have left 28 people dead and burned 37,469 acres since January 7. The Palisades Fire caused 11 fatalities, destroyed over 6,500 structures, and scorched 23,448 acres, with containment at 65%. The Eaton Fire claimed 17 lives, damaged 9,410 structures, and burned 14,021 acres, now 89% controlled, according to officials.
Meanwhile, new fires emerged in California. The Lilac Fire near San Diego, covering 85 acres, is 50% contained, while the Pala Fire, also near San Diego, is fully controlled after burning 17 acres. Efforts continue to combat the 39-acre Clay Fire near Jurupa Valley.
