Following the decisions of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada will also implement a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Trudeau stated that his government has recently discussed this issue with its allies and said that, “We are extremely concerned by the repeated human right violations by the Chinese government. We will not be sending any diplomatic representations to the Beijing Winter Olympics,” Trudeau stated that Canadian athletes will participate in the Olympics with the full support of Canadians.
