Canadian truck drivers continuing their anti-vaccine protests

In recent days, Canadian government had made the Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine mandatory for the truck drivers who wanted to cross the US border. After the Canadian government’s decision, hundreds of Canadian anti-vaccine truck drivers from different parts of the country had been gathered at the “Freedom Convoy”, and arrived the country’s capital city of Ottawa on Saturday. Meanwhile on Sunday, truck drivers continued their anti-vaccine protests on and around the Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Due to the trucks and semi-trucks, traffic was blocked on many roads in the area.

According to the Ottawa police, a large number of police officers were on duty in the city center, and the traffic flow was controlled by the police. Police told that numerous criminal investigations were carried out due to the protest. “Illegal behavior will not be tolerated and will be fully investigated,” police said. Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said some of the protesters harassed a staff at a soup kitchen. Watson told that the protesters demanded free meals after being turned away by restaurants for refusing to comply with the mask requirement indoors.

On the other hand, with the GoFundMe campaign that launched for the truck drivers, more than 7 million Canadian Dollars have been collected from 100 thousand donators to date.
