The President of the Autonomous Administration of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, confirmed that the forest fire that started about a week ago on the island of Tenerife was started deliberately. Clavijo said that the police were carrying out three different investigations. No information about any arrests has been given yet.

According to the latest information shared by the Islands Emergency Service, 11,600 hectares of land have been destroyed and the air quality of 19 towns has deteriorated. Citizens were advised not to go out without a mask.
