Cappadocia, a UNESCO-listed region in central Türkiye, welcomed around 200,000 visitors to its museums and historical sites during the 9-day Ramadan holiday. Total March visitors reached 262,000.
Hotel occupancy exceeded 95%, boosted by the extended holiday. Top attractions included Göreme Open Air Museum, Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu underground cities, and Zelve.
KAPTİD President Teyfik Ölmez said the holiday provided a vital boost for the tourism sector, calling it “a lifeline” for local businesses. Most visitors came from nearby provinces including Kayseri and Konya.
