A car drove into a crowd during Liverpool FC’s Premier League championship celebrations on Water Street, injuring 47 people, including 4 who were trapped under the vehicle. Twenty-seven were hospitalized, but no fatalities occurred.
Merseyside Police said the incident is not being treated as terrorism. A 53-year-old local man was arrested at the scene. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the event “horrific” and thanked emergency teams for their swift response, urging the public not to speculate during the investigation.
