A ceremony was held for the purchase of 160 buses that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) added to the metrobus (bus rapid transit) fleet. Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu stated that the buses should be renewed and the buses that have exceeded 1 million kilometers on the metrobus line should not operate. The offer of Otokar company for 100 buses with a length of 21 meters and the offers of Akia company for 60 buses of 25 meters were approved in the tender that was held on August 5. Buses will be delivered from the first months of 2022.

Meanwhile, Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban announced that fires in Çeşme and Ödemiş have been largely contained. Visiting the fire zone in Çeşme, Elban said, “There are no casualties or injuries. Despite winds reaching 85 km/h and shifting directions, teams have confined the flames. We hope to bring it fully under control soon.”
