A Chery test vehicle attempting to climb the 999 steps of Tianmen Mountain in China slipped during the promotional stunt and damaged part of the historic structure. The vehicle broke a section of the guardrail after losing power when its safety rope anchor failed and became tangled in the right wheel.
Chery apologized, saying no injuries or environmental damage occurred, and announced it will repair and compensate for the damage.
