Severe floods caused by heavy rains in Chile have resulted in the destruction of 1,421 houses and the loss of two lives. The central and southern parts of the country have been significantly affected, with 13,196 people impacted by the disaster. Several regions, including Valparaiso and Santiago Metropolitan, have experienced the worst of the flooding. Rescue operations, including helicopter rescues, have been conducted to save those trapped in their homes. The Interior Minister has declared the affected areas as “disaster zones” to facilitate necessary aid and support.
