Harbin, the capital of China’s Heilongjiang Province, which is also known as the country’s “ice city”, welcomes tourists and the Lunar New Year with rabbit-shaped sculptures made of glassy ice and snow.
Rabbit, which is the fourth animal on the Chinese Zodiac, symbolizes peace, gentleness, skillfulness as well as cautiousness and persistence.
Andriy Portnov, former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid’s upscale Pozuelo de Alarcon district. Spanish authorities say unidentified gunmen opened fire as the 52-year-old was dropping off his children at school, striking him in the back and head before fleeing.
Portnov, a former MP and lawyer, fled Ukraine with Yanukovych in 2014, briefly returned in 2019, and was later sanctioned by the U.S. for alleged judicial corruption.
