China Opens World’s Tallest Bridge

China inaugurated the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou province, now the world’s tallest at 625 meters above the Beipan River. The 2,890-meter-long bridge, completed in three years, cuts travel time across the canyon from two hours to two minutes. Officials say it is also the longest-span steel truss suspension bridge built in mountainous terrain.
