The 900-year-old bridge in Pingnan county of Ningde city in Fujian province of China burned to ashes after the fire was extinguished in 10 hours. No casualties or injuries were reported in the fire. According to some Chinese experts the fire was caused by humans.
Built during the Song Dynasty (960-1127), the Wan’an Bridge has been restored many times in the past. The bridge was protected as a cultural relic at the national level in 2005. Wan’an Bridge is 98.2 meters long, 4.7 meters wide and is also known as the longest wooden arch bridge in China.
