Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Deng Li signed the condolence book at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing after earthquakes hit Kahramanmaraş. Deng expressed his condolences for the victims and wished for a quick recovery for the injured. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beijing, Abdulkadir Emin Önen, thanked Deng for China’s support. Ambassadors and representatives of various countries in Beijing also signed the condolence book to show solidarity with Türkiye.

Deng served as China’s ambassador to Ankara from 2019-2020.

Nineteen people lost their lives and 5,568 people were injured in the Charshanbeh Suri celebrations held in various parts of Iran with fireworks, sparklers and handmade explosives.

Iranian authorities stated that 338 of the injured lost limbs, 1,557 were injured in the eyes, 1,531 people suffered serious burns and some of the injured died in the 14 ambulances that were damaged during the events.

Charshanbeh Suri celebrations are held on the last Wednesday night of the year according to the Hijri Sunni calendar before the Newroz holiday.
