A Russian missile and drone barrage on Ukraine overnight killed a mother and her son in Kyiv and injured at least seven others, including four children, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Russia reportedly launched 4 ballistic missiles and 142 drones across five regions.
Ukraine responded by targeting Moscow for the third consecutive night. Russian air defenses shot down at least 14 drones, with no damage reported. Four major airports in Moscow temporarily suspended flights.
The escalation comes ahead of Russia’s Victory Day events, where 29 world leaders are expected in Moscow. President Putin had called for a three-day ceasefire, which Ukraine rejected unless extended to 30 days.
