Clashes Between Pakistan and Afghanistan Leave 60 Dead

At least 60 people, including two Pakistani soldiers, have been killed in escalating clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, officials said. Pakistani security sources reported that air force jets carried out strikes in Kabul and Kandahar, and destroyed an ammunition depot in Nangarhar province.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said 58 Afghan security personnel were killed and 102 injured in what he described as a response to “unprovoked” attacks. Afghan officials said they launched large-scale operations against Pakistani positions along the Durand Line, while accusing Islamabad of causing civilian casualties in earlier airstrikes.
