Climate activists from the group Futuro Vegetal vandalized the Ibiza mansion of world-famous footballer Lionel Messi. They illegally entered the property, spraying red and black paint on the walls and displaying a banner that read, “Help the planet, eat the rich, abolish the police.”
Futuro Vegetal claimed responsibility, stating, “We painted Messi’s illegal mansion, which he purchased for 11 million euros. This opulent lifestyle contributes to massive carbon emissions, exacerbating the climate crisis. The richest 1 percent emit as much carbon as the poorest two-thirds, supported by an unjust economic and social system. To truly address climate change, we need radical systemic change to combat social inequality.”
