Four activists from the ‘The Last Generation’ organization threw 8 kilos of flour at the 1979 BMW M1 vehicle painted by Andy Warhol at the Fabbrica del Vapore cultural center hosting Warhol’s retrospective. Two activists in the group, then, glued their hands on the ground.
Shortly after the protest began, a security guard interfered by dragging the activists away.
‘Works of art have been targeted in order to highlight the hypocrisy of our society’s values: do we really get outraged at the simulation of damage to works of art while the ongoing objective destruction of works of nature, ecosystems and our own lives leaves us indifferent?’ the group said in a written statement.
