A coal mine in Alxa League, in China’s northern region of Inner Mongolia, collapsed yesterday. While the death toll has risen to 5, search and rescue efforts continue for the other 48 missing miners. The rescue effort included 40 health workers and almost 480 rescuers.
Premier Li Keqiang of China has ordered an immediate investigation into the cause of the landslide.
A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Lipetsk region killed a woman in her 70s and damaged buildings, including a house and a construction site in Yelets. Regional Governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the death and reported a small fire near a parking lot.
The Lipetsk-2 Airport and the Energia plant — which manufactures missiles and air bombs — were also reportedly targeted. Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that 10 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight. The Lipetsk region, a key military hub, has been targeted by Ukraine in previous strikes.
