Students at Columbia University in New York protested during the graduation ceremony over the detention of pro-Palestine activists. Vice President Claire Shipman was booed by students shouting “You arrested us” as she took the stage.
Demonstrators also called for the release of student activist Mahmoud Khalil, detained by US immigration authorities for leading pro-Palestine protests, chanting “Free Mahmoud.”
Students pledged to disrupt the university’s main graduation ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow. Last year’s ceremony was canceled due to similar anti-Israel protests.
