communist opposition in nepal held demonstration against government

Nepal’s opposition communist parties and affiliates held a protest against the government. A women-led march was held in Kathmandu’s capital, reaching near the parliament and chanting slogans demanding the resignation of the Supply Minister for failing to control the petroleum price. Protesters from the Women’s Division of the Youth Force also chanted slogans demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Janardan Sharma for failing to control the rise in the price of essentials. Furthermore, they demanded the resignations of Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada for embezzling anti-COVID vaccines, Physical Infrastructure Minister Renu Kumari Yadav for threatening to kill another leader, and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, claiming he has failed to govern.

As the protestors attempted to avoid the restricted zone near the parliament, a brief scuffle erupted between them and the security forces. Later, the police were able to drive the protestors away from the site, regaining control of the situation.

US Flag Raised Again at Embassy in Damascus After 12 Year

0

The US flag has been hoisted once more at the US Embassy in Damascus, Syria, for the first time since its closure in 2012.

US Special Representative for Syria Thomas Barrack made his first official visit to Damascus and personally raised the flag during a ceremony attended by Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Hassan Shaybani. The embassy had suspended operations amid the outbreak of civil conflict following anti-government protests.

No official statement has been issued regarding the resumption of embassy operations.

The move follows a surprise meeting earlier this month between US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara in Riyadh, where a decision was made to lift sanctions imposed during the Assad era, signaling a potential shift in Washington-Damascus relations.
