Eastern Pakistan, particularly the Punjab province, is facing a widespread outbreak of conjunctivitis, commonly known as “pink eye” disease. The number of people seeking medical treatment for this contagious eye virus has surged to 86,000. To prevent further spread, over 56,000 public and private schools have temporarily suspended education, allowing symptomatic individuals to stay home. Health experts are concerned about the potential for more cases in the coming days. Bahawalpur, in Punjab, has reported the highest number of cases at 16,744, with other cities also affected to varying degrees.
