The Japanese annual crying baby contest, named Nakizumo, was once again held at Yukigaya Hachiman Shrine, located in the capital, Tokyo. During the contest, a total of a thousand babies, aged between six months and two and a half years, competed against each other to cry louder in professional sumo wrestlers’ hands. The babies are shown a devil mask to get scared if they do not cry. It’s believed that babies who cry louder are strong enough to ward off evil.
