Tropical Cyclone Remal has hit India and Bangladesh, resulting in at least 16 deaths and widespread power outages. In Bangladesh, 10 people died, 35,000 homes were destroyed, and 115,000 were damaged. In India, 6 people died, 1,200 electric poles fell, and 52 trees were uprooted. Around 1 million people sought shelter, with 800,000 in Bangladesh and 110,000 in India. The cyclone has left millions without electricity, straining drainage systems and endangering public health.
