Following a series of earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye, significant progress has been made in demolishing heavily damaged buildings. Out of 35,229 buildings seriously affected by the earthquakes, about 58.7 percent have been demolished. Over 21,000 heavily damaged buildings have been cleared of debris. Some buildings are in legal proceedings, and others are in the demolition tender stage. Among the damaged structures, 261 have cultural value, and a total of 27,550 heavily damaged buildings are scheduled for demolition. Officials emphasize the need to accelerate these efforts and ensure the swift reconstruction of permanent residences for affected residents.
