Danish MEP Anders Vistisen criticized former US President Donald Trump for suggesting the purchase of Greenland, calling it “unacceptable” during a European Parliament session in Strasbourg. Speaking in English, Vistisen said, “Greenland has been part of Denmark for 800 years. It is not for sale. Mr. Trump, go away.”

European Parliament Vice President Nicolae Stefanuta condemned Vistisen’s language, calling it inappropriate and warning of potential penalties. Vistisen later claimed on social media that he faced fines for “stating the truth.”

Earlier, Trump described Greenland as crucial for US national security and hinted at economic and strategic means to acquire it. Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede responded firmly, stating, “The future of Greenland will be decided by Greenlanders, not by Americans or Danes.”

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Germany sees a negotiated two-state solution as the only path forward and emphasized, “For Germany, recognition of the State of Palestine is still at the very end of the process. However, such a process must begin immediately.” Ahead of his visit to Israel and Palestine, Wadephul urged Israel to ensure the safe distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza and warned against unilateral annexation steps in the West Bank.
