Deadly Clashes Resume in Syria’s Sweida

Fighting has erupted again between Druze and Bedouin groups in Sweida, southern Syria, killing at least 594 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Syrian Interior Ministry announced that government forces will be redeployed to the area to restore order.

The violence resumed after Druze groups attacked Bedouin communities, breaking a ceasefire agreement. The Syrian presidency accused Druze forces of using “brutal violence” and warned that Israeli involvement is worsening the crisis.

A Bedouin commander claimed they were not part of the ceasefire. Israel reportedly carried out airstrikes on Sweida during the renewed clashes.

Earlier this week, Türkiye helped broker a temporary ceasefire, and Syrian troops withdrew. However, the truce quickly collapsed, leading to new clashes in Sweida, Damascus, and Deraa.
