Deadly Eruption Hits Indonesia’s Flores Island

The Lewotobi Laki-Laki Volcano on Indonesia’s Flores Island erupted twice overnight, killing at least 10 people and sparking fires in nearby villages. The eruptions maffected 10,295 residents, leading to evacuations across several villages.

Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency raised the alert to its highest level, urging locals and tourists to avoid a 7-kilometer radius around the volcano. Authorities warned of potential rain-induced lava flows and advised residents to wear masks to protect against volcanic ash.
