Florida police reported that the death toll from Hurricane Milton, which made landfall yesterday in the US state of Florida as a Category 3 storm, has risen to 16. The deaths were reported to have occurred in St. Lucie County, Volusia County, Pinellas County, Citrus County, Polk County, Hillsborough County, Sarasota County and Orange County.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that 999 people and 105 animals have been rescued so far.
