The death toll from the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck northwest China has risen to 135. The quake, which hit Gansu province in northwestern China at 23:59 local time on Monday, has claimed 113 lives in Gansu and 22 in neighboring Qinghai province, where the tremors were felt.
In Gansu, search operations have concluded at the earthquake’s epicenter. Meanwhile, in Qinghai, where temperatures have dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius, search and rescue teams are working against time to locate missing individuals. Relief efforts have been initiated, providing essential supplies like coats, quilts, portable beds, dry food, tents, and stoves to support the affected regions.
