Death Toll from Ongoing Wildfires Rises to 27 in California, USA

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, the number of deaths in the wildfires that started in Los Angeles, California, USA, on January 7 has risen to 27. Seventeen of the deaths were recorded in the Eaton fire and 10 in the Palisades fire, added the office. It was also reported that 26 people are missing.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, flames spread over 23,000 acres, destroyed 5,000 structures and have been brought under control by 22 percent in Palisades. Meanwhile, the Eaton fire, which reportedly reduced more than 14,000 acres to ashes and destroyed 7,000 structures, has been extinguished by 55 percent.
