The death toll from the migrant boat that sank off the Peloponnese Peninsula of Greece last night climbed from 17 to 59. Some of the rescued refugees were treated in hospitals in Kalamata, Greece. The number of immigrants on the boat, which mostly consisted of men in their 20s, remains uncertain.
It was stated that the boat accident was the deadliest accident off the coast of Greece this year.
