Death Toll From Typhoon Gaemi in Philippines Rises to 13

Typhoon Gaemi, also known as Carina, has caused severe floods and landslides in the northern Philippines, raising the death toll to 13. Heavy rains flooded streets and avenues in the capital, Manila, and triggered landslides in mountainous regions. An emergency was declared in Manila, leading to the suspension of official activities, school closures, and the cancellation of at least 80 flights. Rescue teams were dispatched to evacuate residents trapped in their homes, and tens of thousands of people, left without electricity, sought refuge in shopping malls. The police reported today that a pregnant woman and three children died in a landslide in Batangas province, while a vendor was killed by a falling tree. The floods have forced at least 600,000 people to flee their homes.
