The worst snowstorm in United States in the last 40 years has left 22 people dead. Power outages were reported in over 315,000 homes and businesses across the country yesterday evening. The electricity distribution company PJM Interconnection, which serves approximately 65 million people in at least 13 states across the country, stated that usage capacity was difficult due to extreme cold, and advised customers to set ring thermostats to a lower value than usual and avoid using appliances such as stoves and dishwashers.
More than 800 flights were canceled on Christmas Day due to adverse weather conditions across the country.
